Christian back from the dead

Christian is much happier than when this pic was taken!
Christian Schulz attracted plenty of attention on Day 1a with his mankini antics but the German is making headlines with his poker on Day 2.

Having returned to the room sitting among the shortest stacks in the room, Christian faced quite the challenge and insisted he must double up twice within the first hour to revive his hopes.

That is exactly what he has achieved early on, first with JJ against a random value call and later against the same hand, he doubled with AKs against Jacks.

From the 9,700 he started the day with, Schulz now boasts a 38,000-high tower and is just 7,000 short of the average stack. Not a bad start!

Elsewhere compatriot Bastian Bluem did indeed survive Day 1a, only to have his name misprinted on the chip count, so the eight Fantasy Poker entrants who picked him can breathe a sigh of relief.

The less positive news comes for Mikkel Bergmann backers, as the Dane has been eliminated within the first level of play after shipping his stack no less than four times.

The final blow was when he found himself pot committed with AQ and ran it into both AK and QQ.
