Big finish for Taramas

Day 1b has drawn to a close and while a quick skim around the room suggests our chip leader will come from Thursday's opening field, there was at least one strong finish from Ioannis Taramas.

The Greek, who was quick to remind the PP blog of a third-place finish at EPT Loutraki, won a big pot in the final few hands when he flopped a straight.

It was the ignorant end of a 5♠6♣7♠ board, but his 34 trumped the 8♠8♥  of his rival and dragged 65,000 his way.

It could have been better still, but Ioannis lost an earlier pot for 80,000 chips that might yet have given him the chip count to rival Ilios Kamatakis.

We'll have the full official Day 1b chip count tomorrow but for now, it's goodnight from the Hyatt Regency Casino. We'll see you on Day 2!
