Bright start for Ibhadon

Bright has made a promising start to Day 2
110 players remain in the room after 90 minutes of Day 2 and among those moving their chip stack in the right direction is Bright Ibhadon.

The PP blog knows Bright from the WSOP trip of 2010, when he and a group of friends joined us in Las Vegas for a week of poker and partying.

Just like those many moons ago, our old pal was bought in by good friend Andy Cooper and has been steadily building since the first deal here in Prague.

The construction continued with one good-size pot today. Calling a min raise from a villain in the cut-off, Ibhadon matched his rival's c-bet too when the flop came 3-4-9. A 3 on the turn changed little in his mind, giving him license to call a second barrel, before the river brought him an Ace for top pair.

The fact his value bet of around 8,500 was called suggests it was a lucky river, but he defended the play with a smile: "That sounds like I was calling to hit a gut shot, but I really believed I was good the whole way. He mucked his cards in the end, but I guess that was a misread!"

Fortunes have not favoured all our familiar faces, however, as Joao Brito's stack has been chopped down to just 20 big blinds after a few lost pots.

The latest was a pre-flop all-in versus a short stack, with his Joao's 10s dominated vs the KK of the villain and the 8♥J♠9♦ flop proving no more than a tease. The Portuguese now has around 21,000 chips.
