Haigh Goes Low

There had been a raise to 900 under the gun and a call from the cutoff when we got there to find Robert Haigh reraise to 2,000 from the button. In the small blind Ulrike Schröder called, the other two players called as well, and they all four of them saw a flop, almost 9,000 in the pot already.

The flop came down 8d 5s 4c and Schröder bet out 4,000. It folded around to Haigh, who quietly min-raised to 8,000. But back on Schröder and she quickly reraised to 20,000, eliciting a moment's deliberation and then a fold from Haigh.

Schröder showed him a pair of sneakily played kings, and upped her stack to a very respectable 55,000. Haigh meanwhile dropped to under 30,000 - well below the average, which with 177 players remaining is roughly 34,000.
