Return of the Riech

An enormous pot has propelled start-of-day chip leader Ferenc Riech back up into his comfort zone, head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

I missed the hand itself but Mr. Riech was good enough to fill me in.

He raised to 2,500 from the button, and the gentleman in the small blind with perhaps 50-60,000 to his name reraised to around 6,500. Riech called and they saw a flop.

The flop in question came down Ks 8s 6x and Mr. Small Blind bet out 7,000. Riech called, and they proceeded.

The turn was the 7d, kind of a brick, and Mr. SB bet out again, this time 15,000. Undeterred, Riech called again. To the river.

The river was a not-so-bricky As and this time Mr. SB went all in. After a bit of a tank, Riech called and turned over J-8 offsuit for a humble pair of eights. To his delight, Mr. SB could only boast J-T offsuit for a complete bluff, and he hit the rail.

Riech is up to 230,000 now.
