A total of 11 players can still claim the coveted prize and the bragging rights for all of Season 3 but there are two tour regulars clear at the top. We caught up with Robert Haigh and Ronnie Espensen to see how their position on the leaderboard will affect their strategy coming in to the tournament.
A veteran of eight PPT events, Robert managed a seventh place finish in Madrid to add to his fourth place finish in Vienna to give him a total of 91 points.
Asked about his strategy he responded with, "I plan to play for the win and hope the other guys don't win"
Ronnie has been overtaken at the top of the leaderboard by Robert after leading for a long while due to consistent finishes in the top 50.
"I will see how Robert is doing and adjust my strategy. I can play freely for the first few levels and hopefully build up a big stack and continue to play that way," he commented.
"I think Robert will play tight," he continued.
We'll be tracking these two players today, along with the other nine players in with a shot of the prize. A reminder that a player has to finish in the top 50 to earn points. Victory earns 50 points and the scale slides all the way down to 50th spot who earns one point.
