Seeing as so many of you have a vested interest in his progress, I thought it would be a good idea to rail him for one orbit to see how he plays over the course of ten consecutive hands. It didn't quite go as I planned but there is still a valuable lesson to be learned.
Chip count at the start -- 30,300
Blinds: 150/300, ante 25.
Hand 1. (Hijack) Folded to a raise.
Hand 2. (Lojack) Folded to no raise.
Hand 3. (UTG +3) Folded to a raise.
Hand 4. (UTG +2) Folded to a raise.
Hand 5. (UTG +1) Folded to a raise.
Break. Level up: 200/400, ante 50
Hand 6. (UTG) Absent.
Hand 7. (BB) Called an early position min raise but check-folded to a 1,300 c-bet on a Jh2SQc flop.
Hand 8. (SB) Folded to a raise.
Hand 9. (D)Folded to a raise and a call.
Hand 10. (Cut-off) Folded to a raise.
Chip count after one orbit -- 29,450.
Obviously I was hoping this aggressive young player would get a lot more active in the time I spent with him but that is not the reality of tournament poker. We know that an aggressive approach to NLHE is a profitable one but the most successful aggressive players know that at times they have to take their foot of the gas and consolidate their position.
